Cloudfish sold out a number of gigs in 2006 including the legendary Ronnie Scots in Soho, attended by various music industry friends including Steve’s band mate, Gary Kemp, who made a point of telling the band how much he loved their reworking of Spandau Ballet ‘s True. For the past 3 years the song So High has been used extensively on Australian Radio. It is also included on the CD compilation Dome- Ibiza. Their track In My Space has had airplay on various UK, Italian and Ibiza radio stations. Earlier this year, Steve and Shelley returned to Ibiza to write 6 new tracks which they will record for their first album early in the coming year. Cloudfish have a 5 track CD of their early material available to buy from this website. They normally perform live with a full band a mixture of self-penned songs and well-loved jazz standards in the Cloudfish style. They have been described as “chilled pop electronica”…”haunting vocal harmonies and smooth sax over blissed out grooves”.
Cloudfish are Steve Norman, founder member of Spandau Ballet (True, Gold, Through The Barricades) and Shelley Preston of Bucks Fizz (My Camera Never Lies, Land Of Make Believe, New Beginning), two of the most successful and well known pop groups of the 80’s. Steve and Shelley met in 2001 whilst on the Hadley, Norman & Keeble tour. Originally, Cloudfish was production and songwriting duo, Steve Norman and Rafa Peletey based in Ibiza. In 2002, Shelley was invited to work on one of their songs and to provide the vocals. From this point on Cloudfish became a band with Steve, Shelley and Rafa writing and producing their own songs. In 2003, Rafa left to front his own band. Steve and Shelley continued writing and producing their particular brand of funky lounge music which was influenced by their time spent in Ibiza. Most of 2004 was taken up with them working with Quintessenza, Cloudfish are featured artists on their eponymous CD (which was co-produced by Steve). They also performed a number of shows and promoted the album in Italy with Quintessenza during 2005 and early 2006.
